Dear comrades:-

Allow me to convey to you the greetings of the workers and people of Palestine, and to thank you for inviting me To attend this conference of yours, wishing you success, in the hope that this conference will play an active role in supporting the Palestinian right to establish the state of Palestine with its capital in Jerusalem, and the ongoing struggle to unify the international trade union position towards the cause of my people and translate this position into solidarity activities that express the true solidarity of the union movement global labor

My comrades:-

We meet in light of the challenges of the global capitalist crisis that casts a shadow over the peoples of the region, which led to a state of deep economic stagnation in a large number of countries, which resulted in the spread of poverty, the reduction of wages and the rise in food prices until the workers became unable to purchase the products they produced themselves. Unemployment aggravated and taxes were imposed. Privatization of public institutions and the intensity of imperialist competition intensified with force and cruelty with the aim of control over the resources and wealth of peoples, especially in the Arab region, where imperialism and Zionism made all their efforts and skills to build alliances and implement their plans and conspiracies in sowing the seeds of discord, division, hatred and starting  wars to impede the unity of peoples and prevent their progress and awakening, divide their land and kill his sons, and to tighten absolute control over his resources and wealth, and to seize and exploit them.

This year, as last year, and because of the “Corona” virus, the pandemic that swept the world led to decades back in the fight against poverty, and extreme poverty in the world, that many facilities were closed, many workers in the world were abandoned, and unemployment rose, which led to High rates of poverty globally, and in Palestine in particular.

In light of these complex circumstances and variables, and the intensification of the conflict between the countries of the world to resolve the form of the unipolar world system that is controlled by (American capitalism), which has globalized the world with its capitalist economy; Therefore, the struggle of the working class must continue and the march of their struggle to build a labor movement capable of changing the client regimes of capitalism that dominates the capabilities of workers and works to modify them according to the foundations of production and industry.

Hence the importance of struggle and building non-politicized labor  unions that impose their control over the levels of power to change legislation in a manner that serves the interests of the working class and the toilers in accordance with national principles and foundations, and adherence to the workers’ goals in combating all forms of exploitation..and slavery..andinjustice..and the oppression practiced by capitalist imperialism against them.

Accordingly,

Unleashing the barbarism of the war in Ukraine means that the whole world has become vulnerable to its collateral “damage”, especially the exacerbation of global poverty, and through the increasing attacks on the standard of living of the working class: the worsening  of exploitation, rising prices and rising unemployment. In addition to the risks of possible Russian nuclear strikes and the leakage of radioactive gases from Ukrainian nuclear power plants damaged by the fighting, there are measures that many countries have taken or intend to take to bring the Russian economy to its knees, which may expose the entire world economy to instability. Moreover, with the recent tragic escalation of the war, the strong tendency to increase military spending (for example, Germany decided to double its military spending recently) will constitute an additional factor in weakening the economies of the countries participating in these policies.

Towards a new global economic stagnation and renewed warsThe effects of economic sanctions against Russia will lead to a shortage of raw materials in many European countries and the loss of the Russian market for some of them. The prices of raw materials will continue to rise for a long time, and therefore the prices of many goods will rise with it. The stagnation will strike the whole world and will bring with it the aggravation of poverty and the exploitation of the working class. There are no exaggerations in these predictions, this was demonstrated by the statements of German experts who were trying to reassure “well-watched public opinion” and worry about what the future might hold while at the same time defending the interests of the middle class.

The Israeli settlers and investors are relatively modern capitalist  in industrial and agricultural areas who are dependent on Palestinian labour and whose projects  were established on the lands of Palestinian citizens, and in which employers practice oppression and exploitation in the worst form against Palestinian workers. The terms and contracts of work are harsh and unjust, and the employers refuse to equate the Palestinian worker with the Israeli one. Indeed, for many years they have been applying the Jordanian Labor Law, to the Palestinian worker working in these projects which was in force until 1967,     Only a few years ago, and after a 14-year legal battle in the Israeli courts, the Israeli Supreme Court recognized the applicability of the Israeli labor law to Palestinian workers and workers in these projects, including social rights, minimum wages, annual holiday entitlements, sick leave, holidays, retirement allowances, and the right to organize. Despite this, not much has changed on the conditions of these workers, who accept little in order to preserve the workplace and source of income in the face of intense competition in the labor market due to the high rates of unemployment in the Palestinian labor market.

my dear comrades

The militant determination of the WFTU, with its positions and initiatives, earns it the respect of the working class every day, and the joining of dozens of new members from active unions and major weighty unions, which increased its strength and prestige on the international scene and gave it the ability to establish a strong global trade union movement that meets contemporary needs and struggles for workers’ rights and humanity fair social system.

We are proud of the path of the World Federation of Trade Unions since its founding on October 3, 1945, which was a mature development of the global trade union movement for cooperation and joint struggle to improve the living conditions of workers, combat exploitation, stand in solidarity with the peoples who struggle for freedom, protect their sovereignty, get rid of foreign domination, and preserve their independence and natural wealth. . During these years, its positions were clear on the side of  it’s peoples and issues, and it initiated many distinguished and different activities and solidarity stands alongside the Palestinian cause all over the world, and achieved many international solidarity meetings and visits in occupied Palestine.
