More than 1000 bank employees have been on strike the last 3 days in Piraeus Bank against the bank’s decision to call for the closure of specific branches.

The Union of Banks’ and Finance Employees of Athens, an affiliate of PAME and WFTU has called the employees to respond to the antiworkers plans of the bank with escalation of the struggle.

On the other side, the Federation of Bank’s Employees, has cooperated with the bank and has opposed any militant activity of the workers.

The militant response of the employees and the Union of Banks’ and Finance has blocked temporarily the plans of the bank and showed the strength of workers’ resistance
