PAME Meeting with AMAZON Labor Union in Athens

PAME Secretariat welcomed and met the leadership of AMAZON Labor Union of the USA, in Athens on Tuesday, June 13 at the headquarters of PAME.
The Amazon Labor Union was represented by its President Chris Smalls and vice-President Derrick Palmer. 
At the meeting PAME noted the struggles of workers in Greece for measures to protect the lives of workers in the workplaces, for the protection of people’s housing from auctions, for the signing of Collective Agreements with increases in wages and rights.


PAME also noted the importance of the attempt to organise the struggle in large monopoly groups, thus highlighting the context in which trade unionists from the US can contribute their own experience of organising in the business giant “Amazon”.

On behalf of AMAZON Union was noted how they worked inside AMAZON for the foundation of their Union, without help or support by established unions in the US and the importance of international solidarity and common initiatives against the multinationals.

AMAZON Union delegation also had the opportunity to meet with young unionists, from the Universities of Athens and discuss with them the conditions of students and the need for organization of the youth
