A delegation of PAME participated in the 16th Congress of the CGT Commerce of France, which took place in La Rochelle, from 8 to 12 December.
The CGT Commerce is the largest Federation in the private sector in France, covering the sectors of tourism, services, commerce, while unions from Palestine, Brazil, Belgium, etc. participated in the congress.
The congress discussed the action of the Federation in the past period, but also in the face of developments with the rising cost of living, anti-labour reforms, mass redundancies. At the same time an international meeting was held and a militant mobilisation in the streets of the city on 12 December, a day of mobilisation in many sectors in France. While a special moment of the Congress was an event of solidarity with the people of Palestine.
PAME conveyed the solidarity of the class trade unions of Greece, the need for coordination and joint action of the militant trade unions of Europe in view of the organisation of the European Conference of the WFTU in Paris in January.
