The Hotel Workers Union Of Attica expresses its solidarity with Starbucks workers in the USA

The Hotel Workers Union Of Attica, Greece, stands firmly by the side of Starbucks workers in the USA and salutes their struggle for a Collective Agreement, against the intimidation and blackmail they are subjected to by the employer.

With all our strength, we express our unwavering solidarity with the union and our colleagues in America, who for four whole years have continued to fight daily for wage increases that cover their needs and for the substantial safeguarding of their rights.

Their struggle, against the management of one of the world’s largest multinationals, is an inspiration and example for us workers in Greece, especially in our sector, where we face similar exploitation, intensification of work, and so many other common problems.

This is why our struggle too must be a common one for Collective Agreements with wage increases, for the defense of our rights, for a 7-hour day – 5-day week – 35-hour week, against the monstrosity of the 13-hour workday that the government is attempting to impose, crushing our lives and endurance.

This is why, on October 1st, workers in Greece, through our unions, are striking in an organized way against modern labour barbarity, against the misery and deprivation we experience daily. We are also striking against the policy of the current and all previous governments, which at the same time as they crush wages, social benefits, and pensions, vote in favor of a war economy that funds the slaughter of the peoples of the world, among them the heroic Palestinian people.

We call on all Starbucks workers, including those in our country, Greece, to support this struggle by organizing their own fight for wage increases and better working conditions through their Union. The only clear answer workers have is organization in their Unions!

All for one and one for all. Their profits or our lives.
