Solidarity with CGT Commerce and Services and the workers of France for their September 10th strike

The Federation of Private Sector Employees of Greece, representing thousands of workers in supermarkets, department stores, security, cleaning, telecommunications, and courier services, expresses its solidarity with the CGT Commerce and Services and with the workers of France, who on September 10 will hold strike actions, responding decisively to the anti-labour attacks of the French government on wages, pensions, working time, health, and social benefits.

Our common struggle is a struggle against the monopolies, the European Union, and the governments in every country, which, in the name of business profitability and competitiveness and for the needs of the war economy, load onto the backs of workers the burden of state debts and military expenditures of €850 billion, money given for the imperialist wars of the EU, for the massacre of the Palestinian people by the murderous state of Israel. At the same time, spending on health, education, and social security is cut.

Our right to a stable daily work hours is under attack: with the promotion of EU directives for a 13-hour workday, for “flexibility” and unpaid overtime, for the abolition of Sunday rest. In Greece, the government is attempting to legislate the further extension of work hours, dismantling the fixed daily work hours.

Our Federation is fighting every day to stop the anti-labour bill, for a 7-hour day – 5-day week – 35-hour workweek, for a Collective Agreement with substantial wage increases in commerce and services. With a massive, militant presence at the rallies: Saturday, September 6, at the Thessaloniki International Fair, Monday, September 8, in Athens, while at the same time preparing the strike response to the Greek government’s monstrous bill for 13-hour workdays.

Through our struggle we can block the anti-labour plans and impose our modern needs!
From Greece to France, we are sending a resounding message:

WITHOUT US, NOT A SINGLE GEAR TURNS – WORKER, YOU CAN DO WITHOUT BOSSES
