For the death of the musician Helin Bölek in Turkey after 288 days of hunger strike

PAME expresses its condolences on the death of Helin Bölek, a member of the band Grup Yorum, who died after 288 days of hunger strike.

Bolek, and also the member of the band Ibrahim Gokcek, have been on a hunger strike against the Erdogan government, which since 2016 has accused “the band’s links to terrorism” to be banned from realizing any concerts and its members have occasionally been imprisoned and tortured.

PAME denounces Erdogan’s government for attacking workers’ and people’s rights in Turkey. The Erdogan government arrests, imprisons and tortures militants, trade unionists, workers, artists, who fight for their lives and their rights.
