The All-Workers Militant Front (PAME) expresses its solidarity with the 600 workers at the gold mines in Zaragoza – Antioquia, Colombia, who have been on strike since September 9, organized in their union.
We support their just demands for wage increases, stable and permanent jobs, social benefits for themselves and their families, better health and safety conditions, rights that correspond to the wealth they produce.
We denounce the intransigence of the multinational Operadora Minera S.A.S., owned by Soma Gold Corp, which, at the same time as it records enormous profits from the skyrocketing price of gold, refuses to satisfy even the most basic demands of the workers who produce this wealth.
We stand by the strikers, their union SINTRAMIENERGÉTICA and their federation FENTRAINTERSINDICAL. We join our voice with theirs. We demand the immediate satisfaction of their demands.
The struggle for Collective Agreements with wage increases, for the reduction of working time, for health and safety measures, for permanent and stable jobs, for social security rights, the struggle for workers to enjoy the wealth they produce, is a struggle that concerns the working class in every corner of the planet.
We are united by our common struggles against exploitation, poverty, and imperialist war. In Greece, the trade unions are preparing for a general, nationwide strike on October 1 against the government’s bill for a 13-hour workday, demanding 7-hour days – 5-day weeks – 35-hour workweeks and Collective Agreements with wage increases.
With our unshakable faith in the power of workers’ struggles around the world, we express our solidarity with your strike and our certainty that your struggle will be victorious!
