Hundreds of thousands of people and youth flooded the center of Athens and all major cities of Greece in the strike rallies, demanding that the crime of Tempi not be covered up and that our lives are not sacrificed for the profits of business groups.
The massive participation in the strike and in the powerful demonstrations overcame every obstacle placed by employers and the New Democracy government, who did everything possible to impose silence, assisted by the Mass Media that attempted in recent days to bury the mobilizations.
The people and the youth, workers through their unions, together with the families of the victims and their association, with their slogans and banners, raised their enormous strength, putting into practice their promise that the crime of Tempi will not be covered up, that they will continue to be the voice of all the dead, of all the children.
Once again, the great power of the organized people was demonstrated — especially the labor unions, whose strike struggle and broad activity in workplaces mobilized hundreds of thousands of workers who broke the veil of silence and cover-up.
They exposed the real culprits: the government and the business groups.
They proved that they do not forget, they do not forgive, they do not get used to the barbarity of a system that does not hesitate to kill for profit.
After all, before and after the state and employer crime at Tempi, there have been many crimes: Mandra, Mati, Violanta, floods and fires that cost human lives.
In 2025 alone, the working class counted more than 200 dead from employer crimes, falsely labeled as “accidents”, and hundreds maimed, which the government tries to hide through various manipulations.
An undeclared war is being waged daily against our lives.
Just as our people condemned the policy of profit that led to the crime of Tempi, they must also condemn the new attack by the USA and Israel on Iran, which opens the “gate of hell”, spreads devastation across the Middle East, and has already led to hundreds of deaths, including 40 schoolgirls killed after a school bombing.
The government bears serious responsibility as it has taken on the role of standard-bearer in this barbarity. Its hands are stained with the blood of the dead schoolgirls and the other victims.
This is why they call on us to get used to death, to pain, to get used to the idea that our children may return in coffins.
We call on all Regional Unions, Federations and Labor Centers, and all workers to participate tomorrow, Sunday, March 1st, in a new rally at 11:00am at Eleftherias Park, followed by a march to the US Embassy.
