Hands Off the People of Venezuela

Published on

The military attack by the United States on Venezuela constitutes yet another crime of imperialism against the peoples. It is a continuation of the interventions, blockades, coups, and wars unfolding across the globe, which bathe countries in blood and uproot entire populations, in the name of monopoly profits and imperialist rivalries.
The United States and its allies have no concern for “democracy,” nor for the pretexts they periodically invoke. What they seek is control over South America’s natural resources, over Venezuela’s oil reserves and production, and the imposition of their own domination over the working class and the peoples, within the framework of the implementation of a new “Monroe Doctrine,” which foreshadows an escalation of confrontation with China for overall supremacy in the region.
The fairy tale of Trump as a “peacemaker” and a “diabolically good” figure collapses spectacularly, a myth recycled by the current New Democracy government, previous governments, and the parties of capital. They speak of “stability” and “security” while supporting, justifying, and actively participating in the imperialist plans of the United States and NATO, which bleed peoples from Venezuela to the Middle East, turning our own country into a springboard for war and making our people a target.
PAME expresses its solidarity with the working class, the trade unions, and the people of Venezuela, who are fighting against US imperialist intervention and for their right to determine their own country’s future, free from foreign interventions and blackmail.
We call on trade unions, Regional Unions, and Federations to condemn the US military intervention and to express their solidarity with the people of Venezuela and their just struggle against imperialist intervention in their homeland.
