Condemnation of the drone attacks against the Global Sumud Flotilla

Published on

PAME condemns the drone attack that took place off the coast of Crete against the international volunteer flotilla Global Sumud Flotilla, which is heading to Gaza carrying humanitarian aid. The Greek government bears serious responsibility and must immediately and without delay provide answers about the attack and take all necessary measures to protect the flotilla and ensure the safety of the volunteers.

The New Democracy government, by labeling genocide as a “humanitarian crisis,” continues and deepens the so-called “strategic partnership” with the murderous state of Israel, following in the footsteps of all previous governments. While the Israeli army slaughters children and civilians in Gaza, it drags our people even deeper into the war plans of the EU and NATO’s killing machine. It channels billions into armaments, military missions, and NATO expenses, while at the same time it cuts wages, destroys labour relations, abolishes Collective Agreements, dismantles social security, and imposes a 13-hour workday.

With the nationwide – general strike on October 1st, we join our voices with the thousands of workers who flooded the streets across Italy and shut down workplaces with their strike on September 22nd, against the war economy and in solidarity with the Palestinian people. We send the clearest possible message: we will not become accomplices in the massacre of the Palestinian people; we will not sacrifice our lives and rights for the wars of the imperialists.

We demand now the opening of all passages for the vital humanitarian aid to reach the long-suffering Palestinian people. The Greek government must immediately end all cooperation with the murderous state of Israel and implement the unanimous decision of the Greek Parliament of 2015 for the recognition of the Palestinian state, on the 1967 borders, with East Jerusalem as its capital.

All in the unions – All in the strike on October 1st – All in the streets!

Freedom for Palestine!
